Essence of Investment

People all flock to attain huge profit but not yearn to take efforts to really make something valuable contributing to the society, a.k.a. customers. How could that be justified? However the delusional admiration for super successful investors reflect the lack of basic understanding of where does money come from.

That’s why hedge fund managers, who reaps astronomical amount of money by investing is widely hated and criticized, the major reason is that they don’t create value themselves.

I think it’s not fair to declare they don’t create value, actually they do, by leveling the playground, making sure information propagates seamlessly across the market, they do contribute to the whole society. However, if every ordinary person set their own profession aside, aiming to investing their hard-earned income in this “gambling world” (I say gambling because for those who do dedicate their entire time in investing investing is still highly risk profession, let alone for massive people, it’s same as gambling).

So my view of the so-called investment by most people is essentially it’s a gambling. Hence, whenever whereever, bear in mind the word “RISK”.

That being said, we, everyone, no exception, passively or actively, all have to join this gambling game. Life itself is inevitably a risky game one has to play. Therefore, statistical as well as fundamental knowledge are required to do well.

On the aspect of fundamental, it’s all about how to run a highly profitable company – stock. Entrepreneurs, successful entrepreneurs know more about how to run and grow a company. Examples are Duan Yongping, Warren Buffet et al. Insight and ability to execute carry out are the key elements.

The other side, no one can be 100% sure, so always apply a planet-satellite strategy, meaning put substantial capital in high bet, but leave some for supplemental allocation too.
