What prevent you from seeking the true you – success, it’s written in DNA, be no self awareness consciousness
Most people are afraid of success
Many people lament that they cannot discipline themselves, even though they are told self-discipline is a virtue since childhood. So why is it?
Socrates is a tough rational guy, he thinks if you really know something is beneficial, you don’t need discipline yourself. His disciples Plato and Aristotle is softer in the sense they admit people could be weak in knowing. So they should resort to vividly describing benefits or methodically building up habit to facilitate the path to knowing, hence overcome lack of disciplining.
I mostly is close to this state. There are something such as making videos that I can not persist, the fundamental cause, as per these three great philosophers, is that I don’t really understand “making videos” and future livelihood. Once I improved my wisdom on this, I should not be bothered by questioning my own disciplining ability.
David Hume on the contrary thinks the problem is not about knowing or not knowing but conflict between two emotions. One is instant and the other is long term gratification. To convince yourself with vivid picturing, overweighing of long term benefits is the effective way to overcome this issue. It’s quite a compelling argument even I already strongly agree with Socrates. And this point of view does not really help people in solving this issue. Because the conflict always exists, begging for strong will power, which most people lack, and those who do have it, also triggers lot of tension and pressure, not an ideal status.
My point of view is to be FREE. No self-disciplining, that’s the truly happy ideal state of life. It’s hard to argue David Hume’s view but I don’t go with it. It damage too many followers.
Lastly , Floyd. He went to the opposite extreme end – it’s all about libido, no rationality. People will live like animal. It’s also a free state but not pleasant nor acceptable.
